Most South African betting sites shout about their welcome bonus, but what do you get for sticking around? We compared the loyalty, VIP and cashback programmes at licensed SA bookmakers, and worked out what each one actually pays back in rand.
How this comparison was made: every figure comes from the bookmaker’s own loyalty page or promotion terms, checked in October 2026, or from our own reviews. Where a bookmaker doesn’t publish how its scheme works, we say so instead of guessing. We only include sites licensed by a South African provincial gambling board.
Quick answer: Playabets has the most generous published programme for regular bettors (5% to 15% weekly cashback, daily rakeback from Gold tier, and a tier you keep for life). World Sports Betting’s Club Privé has the best perks for bigger players. Easybet is the simplest option: up to 15% weekly cashback with no tiers to climb.

What each programme pays back in rand
Loyalty schemes use points, coins and percentages that are hard to compare. Here’s the same example run through each one: you bet regularly and finish the week (or month) R1,000 down.
| Programme and tier | Reward | Back on a R1,000 loss |
|---|---|---|
| Playabets, Bronze or Silver | 5% weekly cashback | R50 |
| Playabets, Gold | 7.5% weekly cashback | R75 |
| Playabets, GOAT (top tier) | 15% weekly cashback | R150 |
| Easybet | Up to 15% weekly cashback | Up to R150 |
| 10bet | 10% sports cashback (max R1,000) | R100 |
| Play.co.za | 5% weekly cashback on slots and live games (R1,000 minimum net loss) | R50 |
| World Sports Betting, Silver | 7.5% of monthly losses in Privé coins | R75 (as 750 coins) |
| World Sports Betting, Gold and above | 10% of monthly losses in Privé coins | R100 (as 1,000 coins) |
Notice what this table really shows: cashback is a refund on money you’ve already lost. R150 back on a R1,000 loss is still an R850 loss. That’s why we treat loyalty rewards as a small cushion, never a reason to bet more.
Why rakeback is smaller than it sounds
Playabets’ daily rakeback pays back a percentage of the house edge, not of your stake. As an illustration, if a slot has a 4% house edge and you stake R1,000, the casino’s expected profit is R40. At the top GOAT tier, 10% rakeback returns about R4 of that; at Gold, 2% returns about 80c. It adds up for very heavy players, but for most people weekly cashback is worth far more.
Playabets Loyalty Club

Every real-money bet at Playabets earns XP, which moves you through 26 levels in six tiers, and coins at the same rate, which you spend in the rewards marketplace on free spins, free bets, bonuses and cash. On casino games you earn 10 XP per R100 staked; sports bets earn faster. Bonus-funded bets don’t count.
| Tier | XP needed | Weekly cashback | Daily rakeback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze (levels 1 to 5) | 0 XP | 5% | None |
| Silver (6 to 10) | 150 XP | 5% | None |
| Gold (11 to 15) | 1,650 XP | 7.5% | 2% |
| Platinum (16 to 20) | 67,500 XP | 10% | 5% |
| Diamond (21 to 25) | 1,000,000 XP | 12.5% | 7.5% |
| GOAT (top tier) | 100,000,000 XP | 15% | 10% |

What we like: XP never expires and your tier is yours for life, with no annual reset, which is rare. Even Bronze players get 5% weekly cashback. Watch out for: coins and unopened mystery boxes expire after three months, and the top tiers need enormous turnover (at the casino earn rate, GOAT works out to around R1 billion staked). Diamond and GOAT players get a VIP account manager.

World Sports Betting Club Privé

WSB’s Club Privé has eight tiers, from Orange to Super Black. You earn Privé coins as you play (the rate depends on the game and odds), and every 10 coins earn 1 Privé point, which sets your tier over a rolling 12 months. One coin is worth 10c, and you can move coins into sports or casino free play from 100 coins (R10).
| Tier | Points needed | Monthly losses back (in coins) | Birthday voucher |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orange | 0 | 0% | None |
| Bronze | 50 | 5% | R50 |
| Silver | 500 | 7.5% | R100 |
| Gold | 1,250 | 10% | R500 |
| Platinum | 2,500 | 10% | R1,000 |
| Diamond | 7,500 | 10% | R2,000 |
| Black | 20,000 | 10% | R5,000 |
| Super Black | 40,000 | 10% | R10,000 |
What we like: real-world perks rise quickly with tier: free entry into monthly cash draws (R500 at Bronze up to R20,000 at Super Black), monthly free spins, poker event discounts from Platinum, and two general-access tickets to the Durban July and WSB Cape Met from Diamond. WSB is licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (10181495-013) and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (9-2-1-09865). Watch out for: WSB doesn’t publish exactly how many coins each bet earns, and coins expire if you earn none for six months.
Play.co.za loyalty programme
Play.co.za’s loyalty scheme is built for casino players. Points come from slots and selected live dealer games only (sports bets, Aviator and some live tables don’t count). The big draw is that your withdrawal limit rises with your tier:
| Tier | Withdrawal limit |
|---|---|
| Bronze | Up to R25,000 |
| Silver | Up to R50,000 |
| Gold | Up to R75,000 |
| Platinum | Up to R100,000 |
| Diamond | Up to R250,000 |
Rewards include personalised bonuses and cashback that carry only 1x wagering, plus a 5% weekly cashback on slots and live games for net losses of R1,000 or more. The catch: your progress resets to zero every month and you can drop a tier if your play slows. Our Play.co.za VIP review covers it in depth.
Cashback without a loyalty scheme
- Easybet: up to 15% weekly cashback on net losing sports and Lucky Numbers bets (paid Thursdays) and casino bets (paid Mondays). It also runs a free-to-join Punters Club with vouchers and weekly prizes.
- 10bet: 10% cashback up to R1,000 on sports, and a separate 10% up to R1,000 on games and live dealer.
- YesPlay: no loyalty scheme, but game-specific cashback and tournaments. See our YesPlay review.
- Betway: no points or VIP programme on its South African promotions page when we checked; instead it runs offers such as 5 daily bonus spins for a qualifying multibet and a Saturday Soccer Jackpot.
- Hollywoodbets: no loyalty scheme or regular cashback; it relies on jackpots, the Soccer Bonus Bonanza and a R50 refer-a-friend voucher. See our Hollywoodbets review.
Cashback offers often need an opt-in or promo code each week, and many pay out as bonus funds with wagering attached. Read the terms before you count on them.
SunBet and Sun MVG
SunBet belongs to Sun International, so it’s linked to the Sun MVG rewards programme (Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond tiers). Sun MVG’s terms say Casino Points can be redeemed on SunBet, and Leisure Points go towards hotels, food and entertainment at Sun International properties. Points are non-cashable and expire after 12 months. The terms don’t spell out how much online SunBet play earns, so it suits people who already visit Sun International casinos more than online-only bettors.
Points, cashback and rakeback explained
| Reward type | How it works | What it’s worth |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty points or coins | You earn points per rand staked and swap them for free bets, spins or cash | Depends on the conversion rate (WSB: 1 coin = 10c) |
| Cashback | A percentage of your net losses comes back, usually weekly or monthly | Biggest value for most players, but only if you lose |
| Rakeback | A percentage of the house edge on your bets comes back, win or lose | Small unless you stake very large amounts |
| Tier perks | Birthday bonuses, higher limits, event tickets, account managers | Worth something only at higher tiers |
How to tell if a VIP programme is worth it
- Is the earn rate published? Playabets publishes XP per R100; some bookmakers don’t say how points are earned at all.
- Do points or tiers expire? Lifetime status (Playabets) beats monthly resets (Play.co.za).
- What wagering is on rewards? 1x wagering (Play.co.za) is far better than rewards locked behind 10x or more.
- Does it pay on sports? Some schemes only count slots and live casino.
- Is the site licensed in South Africa? A loyalty scheme means nothing if the site isn’t licensed. Check the licence first.
Play responsibly
VIP programmes are designed to reward volume, and that can nudge you to bet more than you planned. Never chase a tier or a cashback threshold. Frequently asked questions
Which South African betting site has the best loyalty programme?
Playabets has the most generous published scheme for regular bettors: 5% to 15% weekly cashback, daily rakeback from Gold tier, and a tier you keep for life. WSB Club Privé has the best real-world perks for bigger players.
Does Hollywoodbets have a loyalty programme?
No. Hollywoodbets offers jackpots, multibet bonuses and a R50 refer-a-friend voucher instead of a points or VIP scheme.
Does Betway have a loyalty programme?
No. Betway’s South African promotions page listed no points or VIP programme when we checked in October 2026. It runs rotating offers instead, such as daily bonus spins for qualifying multibets and a Saturday Soccer Jackpot.
What is the difference between cashback and rakeback?
Cashback returns a percentage of your net losses. Rakeback returns a percentage of the house edge on everything you bet, win or lose, so it’s usually much smaller.
Are loyalty rewards paid in cash?
It depends. WSB coins convert to sports or casino free play, Play.co.za loyalty rewards carry only 1x wagering, and many cashback offers are paid as bonus funds with wagering attached.
Do loyalty points expire?
Often, yes. Playabets coins expire after 3 months (XP never does), WSB coins expire after 6 months with no earning, and Sun MVG points expire after 12 months.
Is it worth betting more to reach a higher VIP tier?
No. Every reward is worth less than the extra money you’d stake to earn it. Treat loyalty rewards as a bonus on betting you’d do anyway.
