Void legs count as odds of 1.00, which is how most South African bookmakers settle them, but check your bookmaker’s rules. Boosts are usually paid on winnings only and have their own terms, such as minimum legs and minimum odds per leg. For information only. 18+.

What is a multibet?

A multibet combines two or more selections (“legs”) into one bet. The odds of each leg are multiplied together, so the payout can be much bigger than on single bets. The catch: every leg has to win. If one leg loses, the whole bet loses.

How to use the multibet calculator

  1. Choose your odds format. Most South African bookmakers use decimal odds; some, like Hollywoodbets, also show fractional odds.
  2. Enter your stake in rand and, if your bookmaker offers one, the multibet boost percentage.
  3. Enter the odds for each leg. Click “Add leg” for more (up to 20).
  4. Once matches finish, mark legs as lost or void to see what your bet will pay.

Example

A three-leg multibet at odds of 1.80, 2.10 and 1.50 has combined odds of 1.80 × 2.10 × 1.50 = 5.67. A R50 stake pays R283.50 if all three win, a profit of R233.50. If the 2.10 leg is void, the combined odds drop to 2.70 and the bet pays R135.

Why multibets are harder to win than they look

Every leg you add multiplies the bookmaker’s margin as well as the odds. A single bet at 1.90 might carry a 5% margin; a ten-leg multibet carries that margin ten times over. That’s why bookmakers promote multibets and boosts so heavily. Big multibets are fun for small stakes, but don’t treat them as a reliable way to win.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if a leg in my multibet is void?

At most South African bookmakers, a void leg (for example a postponed match) is treated as odds of 1.00. The rest of the multibet stands at lower combined odds. Some boosts may no longer apply if the number of legs drops below the minimum.

How is a multibet boost calculated?

Most boosts add a percentage to your winnings, not your whole payout. A 10% boost on R200 winnings adds R20. Check your bookmaker’s terms for minimum legs and minimum odds per leg.

Is a multibet the same as an accumulator or parlay?

Yes. “Multibet” or “multiple” is the common South African term, “accumulator” is used in the UK and “parlay” in the US. They all work the same way.
